We stopped by after not having been for a while. The old Cherokee Steakhouse has been reborn as the Cumberland Canteen has really upped it's game. The Gluten free margarita pizza on Califlower crust was the best our GF sensitive friend had ever had. The Prime Rib, Salmon and Tomahawk Short rib dishes we had were all very good. The Hot Honey drizzle that was suggested with the Pizza found its way into lots of our dishes... Highly recommend!

Recently we had a chance to visit a relative new restaurant in our area. I am really glad we did. We arrived between breakfast and lunch. It was not crowded at all. We were immediately seated with a view of the lake. Our server was very nice and catered to our every wish. It took a while to look over the lunch menu. If I understood right, they have a breakfast, lunch and a dinner menu. There is some overlap in what is served during the course of the day. My wife decided on the Canteen Burger and I had the Prime French Dip. Both came with homemade fries. At this point I want to stress that the chief puts his flair on almost every menu item. The burger had the chiefs "special sauce" instead of mayo. My French Dip came already dipped with crispy onions and "special sauce" on top. The burger is huge as was the French Dip. We both got almost 3 meals from our generous portions. The burger tasted like a very good burger you might make at home. If you like home made fries, and we do, then you will like these. You get LOTS of fries. Now for the French Dip. When it comes to the table, its not exactly what you might expect. If you wanted a "traditional" French dip, you may not like this. However, give it a chance! It was delicious. Very juicy and tender. The onions and sauce was a very nice touch. We both would order these items again. However, next time I would try one of their Hand-Tossed 12" Specialty Pies. Will we go back, definitely.

The food was above and beyond expectations for stopping through for a quick breakfast on the way back to Kentucky. How lucky we found this gem! Our waitress and staff were super pleasant and friendly. Huge portions, excellent flavors! The view of the river with patio seating. A lovely spot we will come back for!

Delight enveloped our senses at Cumberland Canteen's brunch. Every sip of the ingenious orange green tea shot left us yearning for another; its mysterious blend was refreshment epitomized. The stuffed French toast, a masterful canvass of vibrant fruit, velvety cream, and decadent chocolate, set the stage for the culinary symphony that followed. Savoring the bold flavors of the mariachi omelet, the robust steakhouse proper, the hearty up river feast, and the classic finesse of the eggs Benedict, we reveled in the generous portions. Paired with spirited Bloody Marys and effervescent mimosas, our experience was nothing short of fantastic—a cornucopia of brunch perfection.

I can't brag enough about the Cumberland Canteen!! I've eat here couple times a month or more. I've never been disappointed. The menu is nicely done, with lots to choose from. Food & flavor is always consistent. Staff is always friendly and keep you topped off on drinks. Everyone I recommend to dine here, love it and become regulars. Thank you CC for being amazing!!

I wish I could leave more than 5 stars. We had such a wonderful brunch yesterday that we went back for supper tonight. Cassie was our sever both times, and she was great. She was super attentive and never let us go thirsty! The owner/chef, Dan, stopped by both times to say hello and check in on us. The kids cheese pizza is the size of a regular and is sooo good and impossibly cheesy. The Chilean salmon was perfectly cooked. Don’t even get me started on the prime rib! It was *chefs kiss*. The sides are amazing too. Even if you don’t normally like Brussels sprouts you’ll love these. I wish I had a picture of the Imposter Omelet. It’s a three egg white omelet stuffed with creamy spinach. Ridiculous. So good. The French Dip was the whole reason we came back for supper. My husband fell in love on first bite. Also make sure you get the Wedding Day soup! We are going back again because I need to try the Sinnabun cheesecake. If it’s half as good as the food we have had so far it’ll still be fabulous.

I gave it 5 stars overall because the food was good and service was great, but just be aware it was crazy loud. And it was just the talking of guests. They need to do some acoustic treatments. Hard to have a conversation without yelling. All the meals were flavorful and everyone enjoyed what they got.

Cumberland Canteen has become a date night favorite, serving awesome Italian dishes. However, on our most recent visit, we tried their heritage steak, and it was a flop. The steaks were perfectly cooked but had no flavor, and the restaurant had no sauces. We took the steak home and added our own sauces and seasoning, rescuing our date night. Aside from the experiences of the one visit, we love everything about Cumberland Canteen.
